Graduate Lawyer
Safewill Legal
Start your legal career where it actually matters.
At Safewill, we’re transforming estate planning and end-of-life services through simple, accessible technology. We work with thousands of Australian families each year, helping them navigate probate and estate administration with clarity and care.
We’re hiring a Graduate Lawyer to join our probate and estate administration team - a role focused on building strong legal foundations while owning the operational backbone of matters.
This is not a pure “research and memo” graduate role.
You’ll be close to real files, real clients, and real outcomes from day one.
The Role
You’ll support the end-to-end delivery of probate and estate administration matters, with a strong focus on file management, coordination, and administrative execution.
You’ll work alongside experienced lawyers, learning the technical side of wills and estates while ensuring matters progress efficiently, accurately, and with care.
What You’ll Work On
Matter & File Management
Prepare and manage probate and letters of administration applications
Draft standard legal documents, affidavits, and court forms
Maintain accurate, up-to-date file records and document management systems
Track matter progress and ensure key deadlines are met
Administrative Execution
Coordinate document collection (assets, liabilities, death certificates, etc.)
Liaise with courts, registries, banks, and third parties
Manage correspondence and ensure clear, timely communication
Support billing, file closure, and compliance processes
Client Support
Act as a first point of contact for client queries (under supervision)
Help ensure clients feel informed, supported, and guided through the process
Maintain a high standard of empathy and professionalism in sensitive matters
Learning & Development
Build foundational knowledge in probate and estate administration
Learn how legal work translates into scalable systems and processes
Contribute to improving workflows and operational efficiency over time
Develop into a specialist estate planning & administration lawyer through Safewill Legal's career pathways
About You
You’re early in your legal career and want real exposure, not just observation.
You may be:
Currently studying law and close to completion
Recently completed your LLB or JD
Eligible for admission, completing PLT, or newly admitted
What matters most is that you can work full-time and are ready to take ownership of real legal administration work.
Must-haves
Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
Clear written communication and ability to follow structured processes
Comfortable handling administrative and repetitive tasks with care and accuracy
Desire to specialise in Estate Planning & Administration
Nice-to-haves
Exposure to wills & estates (internships, electives, or prior roles)
Experience in admin-heavy environments (legal or otherwise)
Interest in how legal services can be delivered through technology and systems
Why This Role is Different
Most graduate roles keep you at arm’s length from the work.
This one doesn’t.
You’ll own parts of files early, not just assist
You’ll build operational discipline that most lawyers never properly develop
You’ll see how legal services scale - not just how they’re delivered one file at a time
It’s a strong foundation if you want to become:
A high-performing wills & estates lawyer
A legal operator who understands systems and scale
Or someone who wants to sit at the intersection of law, product, and operations
Why Safewill
